Jr. High PE

Mid-January Update - 1/18/13

The girls created their own games with rules, objectives, equipment, and scoring guides. We’ve been having a ton of fun playing these games each day in PE. It was a great way to get some experience with collaborative learning and for the girls to be creative. Below are some pictures of a game that was a relay race using swimming pool inner tubes. We are also beginning to learn how to write effective goals and work to achieve them. I have been pleased with the motivation and pride these girls show as they stretch and challenge themselves. Now that the weather is getting nicer, I’m looking forward to many days outside on the field playing soccer, capture the flag, and running the mile of course!

End of October Update - 10/29/12:

We are enjoying the cooler weather and getting outside most days to play on the field. The girls have learned the basics of flag football, ultimate Frisbee, various volleyball drills, and today we introduced kick ball! We are running and conditioning often and I am pleased with how the girls are developing endurance and strength. I also am having the girls participate as leaders in team building exercises and stretching routines on a weekly basis. They are taking ownership and pride in our class activities and we are all having fun in the process!
